Bonus Announced on Procurement of Jowar and Bajra in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat government has announced a bonus of ₹300 per quintal on the procurement of Jowar (sorghum) and Bajra (pearl millet) during the 2026 Rabi marketing season. This bonus is in addition to the Minimum Support Price (MSP) declared by the Central Government.

Notably, for the 2025-26 season, the Central Government has fixed the MSP at ₹2,775 per quintal for Jowar, ₹3,699 per quintal for Hybrid Jowar, ₹3,749 per quintal for Maldandi Jowar, and ₹2,400 per quintal for Maize.

According to an official press release, the government procurement of Jowar, Bajra, and Maize in Gujarat will be conducted between May 1 and July 15, 2026. These produce items will belong to the Summer (or *Zaid*) season.

Sowing for these crops is currently underway in various parts of the state. Farmers wishing to sell their Jowar and Bajra to government agencies are required to register online, providing details regarding their produce.

The registration window has been scheduled from April 1 to April 30. The procurement process for Jowar, Bajra, and Maize will be managed by the Gujarat State Civil Supplies Corporation.

According to official statistics, as of March 9, 2026, Bajra had been sown across approximately 61,000 hectares in Gujarat.
