Buying of Urad slow due to slow demand

Chennai. Due to weak demand of Urad dal, demand of dal millers for Urad dal has remained slow, due to which the prices of Urad have declined this week as well. Till 26th July, Urad sowing was done in 23.12 lakh hectares in the country, which was 23.86 lakh hectares in the same period last year. Due to favorable weather, the condition of Urad crop in Maharashtra and Karnataka is very good so far. In some areas, the crop has started flowering and pods have started appearing. Due to increased selling by importers and slow buying, Chennai Urad recorded a decline of Rs 200/300 per quintal this week and the price at the weekend was Rs 8700 for FAQ and Rs 9200 for SQ. Similarly, Mumbai Urad also increased by Rs 100 per quintal this week and remained Rs 8950 per quintal at the weekend.

Burma

Due to increased selling by exporters and weak buying, Burma Urad FAQ declined by $ 40 and SQ by $ 45 per tonne during the current week and the price remained at $ 1010 per FAQ and $ 1110 per SQ at the weekend.

Delhi

Due to the impact of the fall in the pace of port and weak demand from dal millers, Delhi Urad FAQ declined by Rs 150 and SQ by Rs 200 per quintal during the current week and the price remained at Rs 9150 per FAQ and Rs 9600 per SQ at the weekend.

Madhya Pradesh

Due to weak buying, prices of Madhya Pradesh urad witnessed a fall of Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the current week and with this fall, the prices remained at Ashoknagar Rs. 6000/7800, Ganjbasoda Rs. 6000/8500, Jabalpur Rs. 7000/9000, Kareli Rs. 7800/8641 and Indore Rs. 9000/9100 per quintal.

Maharashtra

Due to sluggish buying, no rise or fall was seen in the prices of Maharashtra urad during this week and the prices remained at Akola Rs. 9200, Latur Rs. 8000/8800, Barshi Rs. 7000/8400, Jalgaon Rs. 9000/9500 and Ahmednagar Rs. 8500/9000 per quintal during the weekend.

Others

Due to the weak demand of dal millers, this week, the price of Krishna district urad in Andhra Pradesh fell by Rs. 150 and Vijayawada urad also fell by Rs. 50 per quintal and the price remained at Rs. 9300 per quintal in Krishna district and Vijayawada 9300/9400 per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, Raipur urad also fell by Rs. 200 this week and remained at Rs. 9600 per quintal at the weekend.

Urad dal

Due to weak demand, the price of urad dal fell by Rs. 150/200 per quintal during the current week and with this fall, the price remained at Delhi Rs. 11050/12200, Bhatapara Rs. 10650/11900, Jalgaon Rs. 12200, Meerut Rs. 10500/10800 and Indore Rs. 10700/12200 per quintal.
