Urad prices fall due to weak buying

Chennai. Urad prices have shown a declining trend during the current week due to increased selling at higher prices and weak buying. Arrival of new Urad is increasing in the producing markets. The demand for Urad dal from dal millers remains weak due to which the rising prices are not getting support. Chennai Urad witnessed a decline of Rs 50 per quintal this week due to increased selling by importers and weak buying and the price remained at Rs 8350 per quintal for FAQ and Rs 9050 per quintal for SQ at the weekend. Similarly, Mumbai Urad also fell by Rs 50 per quintal this week and remained at Rs 8550 per quintal at the weekend.

Burma

Due to increased selling by exporters and weak buying, Burma Urad FAQ declined by $ 10 and SQ by $ 10 per tonne during the current week and the price remained at $ 975 per FAQ and $ 1070 per SQ at the weekend.

Delhi

Due to the impact of port decline and sluggish demand from dal millers, Delhi Urad FAQ declined by Rs 50 and SQ by Rs 75 per quintal during the current week and the price remained at Rs 8800 per FAQ and Rs 9400 per SQ at the weekend.

Madhya Pradesh

Due to increase in sporadic buying, prices of Madhya Pradesh Urad witnessed an improvement of Rs. 100 per quintal during the current week and with this improvement, the prices at the weekend became Ashoknagar Rs. 6000/7500, Ganjbasoda Rs. 6000/8500, Jabalpur Rs. 7500/8600, Kareli Rs. 6700/8250, Damoh Rs. 5000/8200 and Indore Rs. 8000/8500 per quintal.

Maharashtra

Due to increasing pressure of arrival of new urad in the producing markets and weak demand, Maharashtra urad prices registered a decline of Rs. 200/400 per quintal this week and with this decline, the prices remained at Rs. 9000 for Akola, Rs. 7000/8500 for Latur, Rs. 7500/8100 for Solapur, Rs. 7200/8450 for Dudhni and Rs. 7000/8000 per quintal for Ahmednagar at the weekend.

Others

Due to better demand, this week, Krishna District Urad of Andhra Pradesh witnessed an increase of Rs. 250 and Vijayawada Urad also witnessed an increase of Rs. 125 per quintal and the prices at the weekend became Rs. 9100 for Krishna District and Rs. 9100 for Vijayawada. Similarly, Raipur Urad also increased by Rs. 200 this week and reached Rs. 9600 per quintal at the weekend.

Urad Dal

Due to calm buying, the price of Urad Dal witnessed a rise and fall of Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the current week and the prices at the weekend remained at Delhi Rs. 10650/11600, Bhatapara Rs. 11200, Jalgaon Rs. 11800, Meerut Rs. 10100/10400 and Indore Rs. 10000/12300 per quintal.
