Lentil prices rise due to better buying

Mumbai. Lentil prices rose this week due to weak selling by importers and stockists and better buying. Due to the news of increase in import duty on lentils, importers increased the selling price of lentils. Exporters increased the price of lentils by 20/25 dollars per ton this week. This supported the rising prices of lentils. New crop will arrive in March. Considering the consumption of 22 lakh tons, 6 months of stock is available in the country. Crop harvesting is in full swing in Canada, new crop will arrive in Australia in November-December, production is estimated to be 17 lakh tons. If we combine the figures of Canada and Australia, then the availability is at least 30 lakh tons. Availability of red lentils will remain for 1 year, which can put pressure on prices.
