Due to off season of supply, arrival of paddy is low- limited fluctuation in prices

New Delhi. Good sowing of Kharif paddy is being done and monsoon rains are also gradually gaining momentum. In most of the mandis, the arrival of normal category paddy is not there or is negligible, while the supply of Basmati paddy has also decreased. According to the demand of millers and exporters, the price of paddy is rising at some places and falling at others. The same is the case with rice.

Delhi

During the week of July 18 to 24, the price of 1121 Basmati paddy in Delhi's Narela Mandi improved by Rs 50 to Rs 4450/4500 per quintal, but the price of 1718 fell by Rs 75 and the price of Taj paddy fell by Rs 100. On the other hand, in Chhattisgarh's Bhatpara Mandi, the price of HMT Naya and Shriram Naya paddy increased by Rs 100 per quintal. There was no arrival of paddy in Amritsar Najafgarh, Dankaur, Etah and Mainpuri. Although 3-3 thousand sacks arrived in Shahjahanpur for two days, but there was no effect on the prices.

Haryana

In Tarawadi of Haryana, the price of most varieties of paddy remained stable amid an average daily arrival of 2-3 thousand sacks, but the price of 1121 increased by Rs 50 and the price of DP local fell by Rs 100 per quintal. The price of paddy in Bundi of Rajasthan came down by Rs 150, but in Shahjahanpur of UP, there was an increase of Rs 100 per quintal. The price of Pusa Basmati paddy in Kota increased by Rs 200 to Rs 3200/3450 per quintal.

Rice

As far as rice is concerned, its price remained stable amid limited business in most of the markets. In Amritsar, Punjab, the price of 1718 Sela and 1401 steam rice fell by Rs 100 each and the price of 1401 Sela fell by Rs 200 per quintal. In Bundi, Rajasthan, the price of different categories of rice softened by Rs 50 to Rs 250 per quintal.

Haryana

But the price of rice remained strong in Haryana's benchmark Karnal Mandi. There, the price of 1509 Sela rice increased by Rs 300 to Rs 6700 per quintal, RS 10 Sela increased by Rs 325 to Rs 4425 per quintal, while the price of Sugandha Sela and Taj Sela rice increased by Rs 150 to Rs 4750 per quintal. In Delhi's Naya Bazar, the price of rice generally declined by 100 to 300 rupees per quintal, but the price of 1121 Sela and 1509 Steam Rice increased by 200 rupees per quintal.
