Groundnut prices soften due to weak demand at high levels

New Delhi: Groundnut prices, which had previously surged to very high levels in states like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh, softened by ₹100–200 per quintal during the week of July 4–10 due to weak demand.
Rajasthan
Prices fell by ₹225 in Rajkot to ₹6,000–9,000 per quintal, dropped by ₹100 in Bikaner to ₹7,300, and declined by ₹100 in Solapur to ₹9,400 per quintal. Markets in Uttar Pradesh remained quiet, with no significant fluctuations observed in prices.
Groundnut Kernels
Prices for shelled groundnut kernels remained largely unchanged due to limited trading activity. An increase of ₹200 per quintal was recorded only in Solapur and Nagar, driven by some buying from millers and exporters.
Groundnut Oil
The price of loose groundnut oil improved by ₹25 to reach ₹1,600 per 10 kg in Gujarat’s Rajkot, Gondal, Jamnagar, and Junagadh markets. Additionally, prices rose by ₹10 to ₹60 per 10 kg in other centers across Gujarat, as well as in Mumbai, Bikaner, Newai/Tonk, and Chennai.
Branded Oil
In Kota, the price of branded groundnut oil rose by ₹100 to reach ₹2,850 per tin (15 liters). Prices for certain brands of filtered groundnut oil in Jaipur and Newai saw an improvement of ₹40 to ₹85 per 10 kg.
Groundnut Oil Cake (DOC)
While groundnut oil cake prices remained stable, the price of DOC (De-oiled Cake) showed an upward trend in some areas. At one plant, the price rose by ₹2,000 to reach ₹38,500 per tonne. The sowing area for Kharif-season groundnut has increased in Rajasthan but is lagging in Gujarat.
