USDA’s report of unreported large daily sales during the shutdown showed total sales of 1.348 MMT. China accounted for only 332,000 MT, while 616,000 MT were to “Unknown” destinations. Another 237,500 MT of soybean meal was sold to the Philippines. Actual weekly report updates will resume only on January 2.
According to this morning’s Crop Production data, US soybean yield fell 0.5 bpa from the September report to 53 bpa. This lowered total production by 48 million bushels to 4.253 billion bushels.
2024/25 carryover declined by 14 million bushels to 316 million bushels based on September Grain Stocks. Combined with the lower production, total supply dropped 61 million bushels to 2.59 billion bushels. On the demand side, exports were cut by 50 million bushels, bringing ending stocks 10 million bushels lower to 290 million bushels.
Globally, Brazil saw higher domestic use and exports, while Argentina’s increased exports offset a cut in crush. World soybean ending stocks are now estimated 2 MMT lower at 121.99 MMT.
