News Capsule: Sugar Export – Export Quota Released
★ India’s Food Ministry has allocated a mill-wise export quota of 1.5 million tonnes of sugar for the 2025–26 season.
★ All mills have been given a quota equivalent to 5.286% of their average sugar production over the past three years.
★ Mills can export this quantity themselves or through merchant exporters/refineries until 30 September 2026.
★ If mills do not wish to use their quota, they may surrender it to the government by 31 March 2026.
★ The export quota can also be exchanged with the monthly domestic sales quota until 31 March 2026, but once exchanged, it cannot be reversed.
