Soybean Crushing Target Set at 113.5 Lakh Tonnes for 2024-25

Indore. The Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA) estimates that 113.50 lakh tonnes of soybean will be crushed and processed in the country during the entire 2024-25 marketing season (October-September), which is 9 lakh tonnes less than the 2023-24 season's quantity of 122.50 lakh tonnes.

According to SOPA's monthly report, with production of 125.82 lakh tonnes, outstanding stock of 8.94 lakh tonnes, and imports of 2,000 tonnes, the total availability of soybean in the 2024-25 season reached 124.78 lakh tonnes. Of this, 11.50 lakh tonnes was reserved for the next sowing season, and the remaining 123.28 lakh tonnes was available for crushing, processing, and other purposes.

Of this, 10.3 million tons of soybean arrived in various markets across the country. Direct consumption of soybean improved from 4.50 million tons in the previous season to 5 million tons in the 2024-25 season, while exports remained stable at 12,000 tons.

According to the report, at the end of September 2025, farmers, traders, and millers had 4.42 million tons of soybean stock, and government agencies had 24,000 tons.

As for soybean meal, its previous outstanding stock was 1.33 million tons. With production of 89.56 lakh tons and imports of 2,000 tons, its total availability reached 90.91 lakh tons.

Of this, 20.23 lakh tons were exported and 62 lakh tons were used in feed production. Furthermore, 8 lakh tons of soybean meal was consumed for food purposes, leaving a surplus stock of 68,000 tons at the end of the season.

SOPA had estimated the production of soybean at 118.74 lakh tonnes in the 2023-24 season, while in the 2025-26 season, the production is estimated to decline to around 105 lakh tonnes.
