Some Improvement in Lentil Prices

Winnipeg. Last week, lentil prices in the international market remained somewhat firm, and a slight improvement was recorded in export shipments.

Producers and exporters are confident that lentil trading will continue at a normal pace during the remaining months of the current marketing season.

Strong demand for the pulse is expected to persist in importing countries; however, the rise in shipping costs will continue to pose a challenge.

Notably, lentil sowing is set to commence in Canada next month. A massive stock of this pulse is currently available there, and producers are accelerating sales in an effort to reduce these inventories.

This presents exporters with a favorable opportunity to boost lentil exports. Efforts to increase lentil exports from Australia are also currently underway.
