News Capsule: Rajasthan Moong Prices 15% Below MSP
★ Moong arrivals in Rajasthan have surged sharply, with nearly 63,000 tonnes arriving in mandis between September 1 and 18, almost 10 times higher than the same period last year.
★ Despite the strong arrivals, farmers are receiving an average of ₹7,452/quintal against the MSP of ₹8,780, about 15% below the official benchmark.
★ Farmer organisations have urged the government to start MSP procurement early. They said farmers are suffering losses of ₹1,280–₹3,200/quintal due to delayed procurement.
★ Moong acreage in Rajasthan stood at 23.17 lakh hectares this year, 13% below the state’s target. Farmers warn that continued low realisations could lead to a further decline in acreage next season.
