★ According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal intensified into a deep depression on Monday and is expected to cross the West Bengal-Odisha coast during the latter half of the day. The weather system has led to a revival of the southwest monsoon across large parts of the country.

★ A trough extending from southwest Rajasthan to the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall over central India until Thursday and western India until Sunday.

★ Very heavy rainfall is forecast over Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday and Thursday, Vidarbha on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Chhattisgarh until Tuesday. Heavy rainfall is also likely across most parts of central India through Sunday, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in several areas.

★ In western India, central Maharashtra is expected to receive very heavy rainfall on Tuesday and again on Thursday and Friday, while the Gujarat region is likely to witness very heavy showers from Thursday to Sunday. A cyclonic circulation over the east-central Arabian Sea and the Konkan coast is expected to further intensify rainfall over Maharashtra and Gujarat.

★ The deep depression is also expected to bring very heavy rainfall over Odisha on Tuesday, while Arunachal Pradesh is likely to receive intense rainfall from Wednesday to Sunday. Heavy rainfall is also forecast over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura through Sunday. Several parts of eastern India are also expected to experience heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.

★ In northwest India, the interaction of the monsoon trough with cyclonic circulations over southwest Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh is likely to trigger widespread rainfall. IMD has forecast very heavy rainfall until Friday and heavy rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across the region through Sunday.

★ Although no major weather system is currently active over southern peninsular India, the influence of weather systems to the north is expected to bring very heavy rainfall over parts of Karnataka until Thursday. Most parts of southern India are also likely to receive rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds through Sunday.

★ The weather department has also forecast hot and humid conditions over parts of Andhra Pradesh until Tuesday.
