News Capsule: Almond Bearing Acreage in the U.S. Declines After 30 Years
★ According to LandIQ, almond bearing acreage in 2026 is estimated to fall to around 1.4 million acres, about 1% lower than last year—marking the first decline since 1995.
★ The drop is mainly due to orchard removals and slower new plantings. Around 12,200 acres are expected to be removed between April and August 2026, while total removals may reach about 47,500 acres, slightly lower than last year.
★ As per USDA NASS, plantings remained stable in 2025, but overall nursery sales and new plantings declined compared to previous years. Non-bearing acreage also dropped to around 105,000 acres.
★ The industry expects this trend to impact future supply and production.
