New Delhi: Despite its slow pace and low intensity, the Southwest Monsoon is gradually advancing. Currently, it is moving towards Northwest India, where it is likely to become active in the next two to three days. A cyclonic circulation at the surface level and the formation and development of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal are aiding the monsoon's progression.
There had been a brief lull in the monsoon's movement, but its momentum is expected to pick up soon. The Meteorological Department anticipates its arrival in Northwest India within the next few days. It is worth noting that the monsoon reaches the western part of Rajasthan last and is also the first to withdraw from there.
According to the Meteorological Department, conditions have become favorable for the monsoon to reach more parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, the remaining areas of Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Jharkhand over the next two days. Subsequently, the monsoon will become active in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
The Southwest Monsoon will continue its advance, eventually covering the rest of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, southeastern Rajasthan, and the remaining parts of Gujarat. Farmers in these regions are eagerly awaiting the monsoon rains to create suitable conditions for cultivating Kharif crops. With this, the monsoon will cover the entire country—a much-needed development.
