New Delhi: The Meteorological Department states that after a sluggish performance in June, the Southwest Monsoon is likely to maintain robust activity until mid-July before potentially slowing down again.

Good rainfall is expected across various parts of the country up to mid-July, which will significantly aid farmers in accelerating the sowing of Kharif crops.

According to the department, normal or above-normal rainfall is likely in parts of the southern peninsula and Northeast India between June 25 and July 1, while the rest of the country may receive below-average rainfall.

Conditions are expected to improve starting July 2; during the week of July 2–8, normal or above-normal rainfall is anticipated across almost all regions of the country.

A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the northern Bay of Bengal during this period, driving the monsoon further into the country's interior.
