Concerns Over Weak Monsoon Follow Crude Oil Issues

New Delhi. The Indian economy had already been under pressure since March 2026 due to rising import costs for crude oil, natural gas, and chemical fertilizers—a situation driven by the crisis in West Asia.
Even before this crisis could fully resolve, India has encountered another serious challenge: the weakening of the southwest monsoon due to the El Niño effect, resulting in uncertain and erratic rainfall across the country.
This raises concerns about an adverse impact on agricultural production. A decline in output would not only affect the rural economy but could also somewhat stall the growth and expansion of FMCG companies.
A drop in farmers' income would impact purchasing power, leading to weaker demand for various products. Monsoon rainfall is crucial, essential, and highly beneficial for both Kharif and Rabi season crops.
