Masoor prices rise due to container shortage at Mumbai Port; Canadian Masoor hits ₹6,500

The persistent shortage of containers at Mumbai Port is affecting the arrival and supply of imported Masoor (red lentils). Meanwhile, the Mumbai Masoor market has witnessed an upward trend driven by subdued selling pressure from importers and sustained demand from pulse millers.

Prices for Canadian Masoor rose by ₹100 per quintal due to increased buying amidst limited market availability, while Australian Masoor saw a rise of ₹50 per quintal. Following this increase, prices in Mumbai reached ₹6,500 per quintal for Canadian Masoor and ₹6,400 per quintal for Australian Masoor.

The container shortage at the port is disrupting the delivery of imported consignments and regular market supplies. On the other hand, selling pressure on importers has eased as demand remains strong relative to available stocks, providing continuous support to Masoor prices.

Future market trends will depend on container availability at the port, the arrival of imports, and demand from pulse millers. If the container shortage and supply issues persist alongside strong buying interest, Masoor prices are likely to remain supported.
