Kharif Moong Prices Remain Firm; Market Supported by Low Arrivals and Strong Demand

Domestic market prices for Kharif Moong continue to trend upwards, supported by a lack of arrival pressure in producing markets and robust demand from pulse mills and stockists. Concerns regarding lower per-hectare yields in several growing regions—due to deficient monsoon rainfall—are likely to impact production for the current season. Arrivals of the new Moong crop in the markets are falling short of expectations. Meanwhile, buying by pulse mills and active participation by stockists are lending strength to the market. Consequently, price increases were recorded in key producing markets. Today, Moong prices in Indore rose by ₹200 per quintal, reaching a range of ₹8,500–₹8,700 per quintal. In Jaipur, prices for 'Chamki' Moong increased by ₹100, quoted at ₹8,300 per quintal. In Delhi, prices for 'Rajasthan-line' Moong remained steady at ₹7,800–₹8,800 per quintal.

What is the market outlook?

The Moong market is finding support for its upward trend due to concerns over low yields, limited market arrivals, and strong demand from pulse mills. Buying activity by stockists is also bolstering prices. However, government stocks available in the central pool and the prospect of increased new crop arrivals in the coming days could influence the market's upward momentum.
