According to the weekly Commitment of Traders (COT) report, managed money funds reduced their net short position in CBOT wheat futures and options by 12,469 contracts during the week ending July 28, bringing it down to just 6,880 contracts. In KC wheat, they added another 3,289 contracts to their net long position, increasing it to 33,233 contracts.
USDA Export Sales data showed total 2026/27 wheat sales at 6.979 MMT, representing 33% of the current USDA export forecast and trailing the historical average sales pace of 39%.
According to FranceAgriMer, 65% of the French soft wheat crop was rated good to excellent as of July 27, and harvesting has been completed.
