The USDA reported a private export sale of 252,000 metric tons of 2026/27 soybeans to unknown destinations.
According to the Commitment of Traders (COT) report released on Friday, speculative traders added another 30,101 contracts to their net long position in soybean futures and options during the week ending July 28. By Tuesday, their total net long position had reached 155,001 contracts.
Weekend rainfall is expected across parts of Eastern Iowa (IA), Southern Wisconsin/Michigan (WI/MI), Illinois (IL), Indiana (IN), and Ohio (OH).
USDA Export Sales data showed old-crop soybean sales at 41.682 MMT, equal to 101% of the USDA forecast and in line with the average sales pace of 101–102% over the past few years. Total shipments reached 38.971 MMT, representing 94% of the USDA projection. New-crop soybean sales climbed to 7.469 MMT, the highest level in four years and 146.1% above the same period last year.
June soybean crush data will be released on Monday. Traders expect soybean crush to total 218.3 million bushels (mbu), with estimates ranging from 216.5 to 219.3 million bushels. Soybean oil stocks are projected at 2.025 billion pounds.
China's state-owned company Sinograin purchased 249,000 metric tons out of the 501,000 metric tons of imported soybeans offered for sale on Friday.
