International Cotton Market
On Wednesday, ICE cotton futures for near-term contracts closed 22 to 26 points lower, while external markets were mixed: Crude oil prices rose by $0.96, The U.S. Dollar Index increased by $0.390 to 99.815. According to weekly NASS Crop Progress data as of May 25: 52% of cotton planting is completed, behind the 56% average, Texas planting at 47%, just 1% below normal, Georgia at 54%, 4% below its average of 58%, 3% of the crop has reached the squaring stage, slightly behind the 4% average
In online sales on Tuesday, The Seam reported 806 bales sold at an average price of 60.23 cents/lb.
As of May 27: Cotlook A Index rose 50 points to 78.25.
ICE certified cotton stocks increased by 4,277 bales, bringing total stocks to 46,517 bales
The USDA's Adjusted World Price (AWP) was reduced by 38 points to 53.52 cents/lb last Thursday and remains effective through today.
