USDA reported a private export sale of 112,776 metric tons of corn to Mexico this morning, entirely for new crop delivery.
This week, the Central Corn Belt is expected to receive 1 to 2 inches of rain, while lighter totals are expected in the western Plains and parts of the Eastern Corn Belt.
According to Crop Progress data, as of July 6, 18% of the U.S. corn crop had reached the silking stage, 3 percentage points ahead of average. About 3% of the crop has entered the dough stage. Condition ratings improved by 1% to 74% good/excellent, with the Brugler500 index up 3 points to 385.
Much of the improvement was observed in western states—IA up 2 points, KS up 15 points, and MO up 1. In contrast, IL dropped 9 points, OH declined 4 points, and NE was down 2 points.
