Yangon. Latest data from the Myanmar Pulses, Beans, Maize and Sesame Seeds Merchants Association—a leading private trade and export body—reveals that total exports of pulses, beans, maize, and sesame seeds from Myanmar exceeded 1 million tonnes during the first quarter of the current fiscal year (April–June 2026), generating revenue of over US$ 538 million.

During this quarter, these products were exported to more than 26 countries worldwide, with India, Thailand, and China being the key destinations. Significant quantities of *tur* (pigeon pea) and *urad* (black gram) are exported to India, maize to Thailand, and *moong* (green gram) and sesame seeds to China.

In Myanmar, pulses and beans are cultivated over the largest area after paddy; they are sown on approximately 20 percent of the country's total arable land. Myanmar is also a major exporter of rice, though that commodity falls outside the purview of this association. The largest share of *urad* and *tur* exports from Myanmar goes to India, which is itself the leading producer and consumer of these crops. Agricultural products from Myanmar are also exported to various other countries across Asia and Europe.
