Free sale quota of 22.50 lakh tonne sugar fixed for February 2025

It seems like the Indian government is focusing on maintaining a steady supply of sugar for the domestic market, with the free sale quota set at 22.5 lakh tonnes for February 2025, the same as January.
This consistency should help keep prices stable, even though February is a shorter month. Interestingly, the absence of major Hindu festivals in February could reduce sugar consumption a bit.
Additionally, the government's decision to set an export quota of 10 lakh tonnes of sugar should also ensure that there’s enough for the domestic market.
The regional quotas allocated to different states, like Uttar Pradesh receiving a significant 6.90 lakh tonnes, reflect the varied demand across India.
While sugar consumption in February might dip slightly due to lower festivals and shorter days, the industrial demand could rise with the temperature increase.
It seems like the government is keeping a close watch on production trends, which are behind compared to last year, and is trying to balance domestic supply while preventing major price fluctuations.
