Groundnut Prices Decline in Gujarat & Maharashtra; Improve in UP
New Delhi: During the week of April 4–10, groundnut prices witnessed fluctuations across various markets, driven by the interplay between commodity arrivals and buying activity from purchasers.
Arrivals
In Gujarat's Rajkot market, daily arrivals averaged 8,000–10,000 bags of groundnuts; however, due to sluggish trading activity, prices slumped by ₹2,000 to settle within the range of ₹7,000–₹9,000 per quintal.
Groundnuts
Similarly, in Solapur, Maharashtra, prices declined by ₹800 to stand at ₹8,000 per quintal. Conversely, in Bikaner, Rajasthan, groundnut prices rose by ₹100 to reach ₹7,400 per quintal. In Uttar Pradesh, prices increased by ₹100 per quintal in both Jhansi and Mahoba, while Mau Ranipur witnessed a hike of ₹400 per quintal.
Groundnut Kernels
The price of shelled groundnut kernels improved by ₹100 in Bikaner but declined by up to ₹800 in Solapur. Demand from crushers, processors, and exporters remained somewhat subdued during this period.
Groundnut Oil
In Gujarat—specifically in Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh, and Jamnagar—the price of loose groundnut oil fell by ₹25 to settle at ₹1,725 per 10 kg. A softening trend was observed in other trading centers as well. Overall, market off-take remained weak.
Branded Oil
In Kota, branded groundnut oil prices remained stable at ₹3,100 per tin (15 liters), while filtered oil in Jaipur and Newai witnessed minor fluctuations. The market for Groundnut De-oiled Cake (DOC) showed some softness, and trading volumes also declined.
