New Delhi: Fenugreek yield during the current season is expected to be lower compared to last year, primarily because farmers in the key producing states—Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat—have sown the crop across a reduced area. According to available data, fenugreek sowing in Madhya Pradesh declined by 14 percent this year, settling at 55.40 thousand hectares. Meanwhile, in Rajasthan, sowing was undertaken across 41.75 thousand hectares, which represents a 12 percent decrease compared to the previous year. In Gujarat as well, the sown area stood at 17.50 thousand hectares, down from 18.60 thousand hectares last year. Overall, the total area under fenugreek cultivation in the country this year amounted to 1.15 lakh hectares, whereas in the year 2025, sowing had been carried out across 1.30 lakh hectares.
Production Estimates
Based on the information received, fenugreek production in Madhya Pradesh during the current season is estimated to reach 7.38 lakh quintals, whereas last year's production was estimated at 8.49 lakh quintals. In Rajasthan, reports indicate that production is expected to be 5.40 lakh quintals—compared to 6.09 lakh quintals last year—while Gujarat's production is projected at 2.42 lakh quintals (last year, production in Gujarat stood at 2.57 lakh quintals).
Market Arrivals
Currently, arrivals of the new crop have commenced at the *mandis* (wholesale markets) in the major producing centers. At the Rajkot *mandi* in Gujarat, arrivals of the new stock are averaging 2,500 bags, with prices for quality produce being quoted in the range of ₹5,250 to ₹6,750. In Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch *mandi*, arrivals are hovering around 2,000 bags, and prices are being quoted between ₹5,700 and ₹6,000. Similarly, at the Jaora *mandi*, arrivals range from 2,000 to 2,500 bags, with prices quoted at ₹5,750 to ₹6,200. In Rajasthan's Kota Mandi, the arrival of new stock has commenced at a volume of 150–200 bags, with prices currently being quoted in the range of ₹5,200 to ₹5,600. The Nokha Mandi is also witnessing arrivals of 200–300 bags. Sources suggest that in the coming days, as the pressure from incoming supplies intensifies, prices may experience a decline of ₹200 to ₹300; however, there appear to be no indications of a further, more significant downturn.
Exports
During the first nine months of the current financial year (2025–26), a 17 percent increase was recorded in fenugreek exports, while export earnings witnessed a 6 percent rise. According to available data, fenugreek exports between April and December 2025 totaled 37,226 tonnes, generating revenue of ₹278.29 crore.
