ICE Cotton futures hit new lows on Friday, with contracts ending 35 to 41 points lower. The December contract fell 113 points for the week. Crude oil futures climbed $1.23 to $59.92 per barrel, while the US Dollar Index increased by $0.120 to 99.170.
USDA raised US cotton yield by 58 lbs/acre to 919 lbs, lifting production by 900,000 bales to 14.12 million bales. Export estimates were also raised by 200,000 bales to 12.2 million, pushing ending stocks 700,000 bales higher to 4.3 million bales.
In Thursday’s online auction from The Seam, 834 bales were sold at an average price of 59.91 cents/lb. On November 13, the Cotlook A Index fell 45 points to 74.95 cents. ICE certified cotton stocks increased by 1,005 bales on November 13 to 19,244 bales. The Adjusted World Price (AWP) was released for the first time in over a month on Thursday at 51.83 cents/lb and is valid through next Thursday.
