ICE cotton futures were down 147 to 302 points across the front months during Thursday’s session. Crude oil was up 66 cents per barrel, while the U.S. Dollar Index was down 0.577 points.
Export Sales showed total 2026/27 cotton sales of just 27,525 running bales for the week ending August 27. This was an 88.76% decline from the same week last year. India purchased 10,800 running bales, while Vietnam also purchased 10,800 running bales. New-crop sales were zero.
Shipments totaled 189,480 running bales for the week, 22.52% above the same week last year. Vietnam was the top destination with 77,300 running bales, followed by India with 22,200 running bales.
Census data showed cotton exports, excluding linters, of 1.16 million bales in July. This was a four-year high, up 23.7% from last year but down 3.78% from the previous month.
The Seam reported sales of 2,251 bales on September 2 at an average price of 87.00 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index was down 155 points on Tuesday at 100.75. ICE certified cotton stocks were unchanged on September 2, remaining at 63,092 bales.
