Due to the Monday holiday, EIA data will now be released on Thursday. Some traders are watching to see if ethanol production can continue to improve after last week’s rebound. Because of the government shutdown, the normally scheduled Export Sales report for Friday has been postponed. Traders estimate that corn bookings for the week ending October 9 were between 0.9 and 2 million metric tons.
Taiwan purchased 65,000 metric tons of corn from the U.S. in its tender on Wednesday. Two separate South Korean importers bought a total of 269,000 metric tons of corn through private tenders, though the official origins of these deals were not disclosed.
