Saskatoon. Preparations for harvesting of winter and spring crops have begun in Saskatchewan, Canada's most important agricultural producing province, and this process is expected to continue in the coming weeks.

Clear and dry weather is helping farmers in the state to start harvesting various crops. Early sown crops are being harvested in the south-western region of Saskatchewan province.

At the provincial level, 1 percent of the crop has been harvested. 13 percent of winter wheat and about 7 percent of rainy season rye have been harvested so far.

Harvesting of spring crops has also begun in some places. This also includes pulse crops like lentils and peas. Threshing of 1 percent of its crop is reported.

In most areas of Saskatchewan province, the process of harvesting of crops is still late as the crops are still going through different stages of progress.

There is a possibility of it ripening early in some areas. Usually, the pace of harvesting of crops starts increasing after mid-August, while in the meantime, farmers complete all the necessary preparations so that there is no difficulty in harvesting the crops and storing them safely.

Harvesters are being cleaned and other machines are being serviced and arrangements are being made for the transportation and storage of grains, pulses and oilseeds. Warehouses are also being cleaned.

Wheat, canola, lentils and peas along with many other crops are produced on a large scale in Saskatchewan province. Most of it is also exported from there.

Apart from this, various crops are also cultivated in other provinces of Canada including Alberta, Manitoba, Quebec and British Columbia. There was good rainfall in Canada in the last week of July, but now the weather has cleared.
