Urad prices rise due to weak selling and increased buying
Chennai. During the current week, due to weak selling at reduced prices and increased buying, the prices of Urad have increased. Urad suffered heavy losses due to excessive rain on the ripened crop in Bundelkhand division. 20/25 percent of Urad crop was also damaged in Kota region of Rajasthan. Quality was also affected due to excessive rain. Due to weak selling and increased buying by importers, Chennai Urad registered an increase of Rs 150/200 per quintal this week and the price at the weekend became FAQ Rs 8400 and SQ Rs 9200 per quintal. Similarly, Mumbai Urad also increased by Rs 150 per quintal this week and became Rs 8600 per quintal at the weekend.
Burma
Due to increase in export demand, Burma Urad FAQ has increased by 25 dollars and SQ has also increased by 25 dollars per tonne during the current week and the price has reached 995 dollars per FAQ and 1090 dollars per SQ at the weekend.
Delhi
Due to the support of the rise in the port and increase in buying by the dal millers, Delhi Urad FAQ has increased by 125 rupees and SQ has increased by 150 rupees per quintal during the current week and the price has reached 8800/8825 rupees per FAQ and 9500 rupees per SQ at the weekend.
Madhya Pradesh
The demand of new Urad has started increasing in the producing markets. Due to increased buying by pulses millers, prices of Madhya Pradesh Urad witnessed a rise of Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the current week and with this rise, the prices at the weekend became Ashoknagar Rs. 5000/7800, Ganjbasoda Rs. 6000/8100, Jabalpur Rs. 7000/8700, Kareli Rs. 7701, Damoh Rs. 5000/7500 and Indore Rs. 7500/8000 per quintal.
Maharashtra
Due to weak selling and increased buying, Maharashtra Urad prices registered a rise of Rs. 100/200 per quintal this week and with this rise, the prices at the weekend became Akola Rs. 8700, Latur Rs. 6000/8330, Solapur Rs. 6500/8100, Dudhni Rs. 5500/8500, Akkalkot Rs. 6000/8300 and Ahmednagar Rs. 6000/8000 per quintal.
Others
Due to support of all round rise and better buying, Andhra Pradesh's Krishna District Urad witnessed a rise of Rs. 200 and Vijayawada Urad witnessed a rise of Rs. 200 per quintal this week and the prices at the weekend became Krishna District Rs. 9100 and Vijayawada Rs. 9000/9050 per quintal.
Urad Dal
With the support of rising prices of Urad, the prices of Urad Dal have improved by Rs. 100 per quintal during the current week and with this improvement, the prices at the weekend have become Delhi Rs. 10750/11600, Bhatapara Rs. 10900, Jalgaon Rs. 11700, Meerut Rs. 10000/10400 and Indore Rs. 10500/12000 per quintal.
