Tur Market Rallies; Profit-Booking Dominates at Week's End
Mumbai: Driven by sustained demand, Tur prices witnessed an upward trend during the current week. However, the market recorded a decline towards the weekend as selling pressure intensified and buying activity subsided. Arrivals of Tur in key producing markets (mandis) are gradually tapering off, leading to a reduction in supply pressure within the market. The decline in arrivals has spurred increased activity among stockists and pulse millers, thereby keeping market sentiment robust. According to market experts, importers are currently facing a price disparity at prevailing rates; consequently, selling pressure from their end remains limited. This factor continues to provide consistent support to the market, lending strength to the rising trajectory of Tur prices. Due to reduced selling by importers coupled with sustained strong demand, the price of African Tur in Mumbai recorded an increase of ₹100 per quintal during the current week. By the weekend, prices settled as follows: Mozambique White at ₹6,450–₹6,500; Gajri at ₹6,400; Matwara at ₹6,300; Malawi at ₹6,100; and Sudan at ₹8,150–₹8,200 per quintal.
