Gram Prices Rise on Strong Demand; Ease at Week's End Due to Profit-Booking

New Delhi: Driven by sluggish selling activity and improved demand, an upward trend was observed in Gram prices during the current week. However, a slight softening was recorded in the market towards the weekend as profit-booking sales emerged at the elevated price levels. Arrivals of Gram in producing markets remain limited, while continuous government procurement is providing additional support to the market. On the other hand, demand from pulse mills remains robust due to increased buying interest in Gram Dal and Besan (Gram Flour), thereby maintaining a positive market sentiment. According to market experts, supply in the market is currently limited, while consumer demand is showing gradual signs of improvement. Consequently, a firm market environment for Gram is likely to persist in the near future. Driven by rising demand from pulse mills, Gram prices in Delhi recorded an increase of ₹75–100 per quintal during the current week. By the weekend, prices for Madhya Pradesh-origin Gram reached ₹5,875–5,900 per quintal, while Rajasthan-origin Gram traded at ₹5,900–5,950 per quintal.
