Mustard prices fall as new crop arrivals begin

New Delhi. New mustard supplies have begun arriving in some markets in major producing states - Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, while activity among crushers, processors, and traders/stockists has decreased. Mustard production is expected to increase slightly due to an increase in sowing area by 2.80 lakh hectares and favorable weather conditions.
Rajasthan
Mustard prices saw a slight increase in Rajasthan during the week of February 7-13, while prices remained soft in Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh. Arrivals of mustard will continue to increase steadily in the coming weeks.
42% Condition Mustard
During the week under review, the price of 42% condition mustard fell by ₹150 to ₹6950 per quintal in Delhi and ₹200 to ₹7100 per quintal in Jaipur.
Mustard
Similarly, the price of ordinary average quality mustard saw a decline of ₹200-₹250 per quintal in Gujarat, ₹50-₹100 per quintal in Haryana, and ₹50-₹100 per quintal in Madhya Pradesh. However, mustard prices rose by ₹200 in Kota, Rajasthan, and ₹100 per quintal in Alwar. Mustard prices remained stable at ₹7,450 per quintal in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, but fell by ₹100 per quintal in Agra.
Mustard Oil (Expelled)
Prices of expeller and crude mustard oil also generally declined by ₹2-₹3 per kg. Expeller prices fell by ₹5 per 10 kg in Delhi and Charkhi Dadri, while they fell by ₹30 in Morena. In Mumbai, prices fell by a significant ₹60 to ₹1,440 per 10 kg. Prices in Bikaner also remained at ₹1,440.
Mustard Cake (DOC)
Prices of mustard cake and DOC declined due to softening mustard oil and oil prices. Domestic and export demand remained weak. The outlook for mustard appears to be bearish.
