Moong prices continue to fluctuate as demand remains normal


Weekly Review: Moong (February 2025)

Moong prices have been fluctuating due to sluggish demand, leading to weak purchases by dal millers. This pressure has resulted in price drops across several regions.

National Overview:

  • As of February 17, 2025, a total of 1,76,474 metric tonnes of Kharif 2024 moong were registered by the government. Rajasthan contributed the most, with 1,45,887.35 metric tonnes (83%), followed by Karnataka with 26,725.15 metric tonnes (15%).
  • Due to limited buying by dal millers, Delhi witnessed a Rs. 50 decline, with prices staying at Rs. 7400-7950 per quintal.

Rajasthan:

  • In Rajasthan, selling pressure from stockists and weak demand led to a Rs. 100 fall in moong prices.
  • Weekend prices were as follows:
    • Jodhpur: Rs. 6500/7600
    • Jaipur: Rs. 6900/7800
    • Sumerpur: Rs. 7000/8200
    • Nagaur: Rs. 7200/8200
    • Merta: Rs. 7200/8000
    • Kishangarh: Rs. 5500/7500

Madhya Pradesh:

  • Prices remained stable in Madhya Pradesh due to normal demand. Weekend prices were:
    • Pipariya: Rs. 6000/7300
    • Indore: Rs. 7500/8100
    • Kareli: Rs. 4200/8000
    • Jabalpur: Rs. 5000/8000

Karnataka:

  • Karnataka experienced a Rs. 100 fall in prices due to weak buying. Weekend prices were:
    • Gulbarga: Rs. 4000/8200
    • Bidar: Rs. 4113/7259
    • Hubli: Rs. 6211
    • Gadag: Rs. 7500/7600

Maharashtra:

  • Maharashtra saw stable prices with no significant changes, with weekend prices as follows:
    • Solapur: Rs. 7200/8300
    • Latur: Rs. 5000/7700
    • Akola: Rs. 6400/8700
    • Barshi: Rs. 6000/7000
    • Ahmednagar: Rs. 6000/8000
    • Khamgaon: Rs. 5000/7000

Other Regions:

  • In Rajkot, weak selling and increased buying led to a Rs. 200 increase in prices, reaching Rs. 7000/8000 per quintal at the weekend.

Moong Dal:

  • Prices of moong dal remained steady due to sluggish demand. Weekend prices were:
    • Delhi: Rs. 10000/12350
    • Jodhpur: Rs. 9900/9950
    • Jaipur: Rs. 9500
    • Bhatapara: Rs. 9500/10000
    • Jalgaon: Rs. 10100
    • Indore: Rs. 9100/9700
