Groundnut prices rise despite good arrivals in the markets

New Delhi. The entire edible oil and oilseed market is currently experiencing a bullish trend. As a result, groundnut prices also registered a significant increase during the week of January 24-30. Although there have been good arrivals of groundnuts in the markets of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh, prices continue to rise.
Prices
During the week of January 24-30, groundnut prices reached a high of ₹10,000 per quintal in Rajkot, ₹6700 in Bikaner, ₹10,500 in Solapur, ₹7300 in Jhansi, ₹7500 in Mahoba, and ₹7400 per quintal in Mauranipur.
Groundnut Kernels
In Bikaner, the price of shelled groundnut kernels increased by ₹200 to ₹9200-9800 per quintal. Similarly, significant increases were also recorded in Solapur and Nagpur. It is understood that demand from crushers and processors, as well as exporters, remained strong.
Price Increase
Due to the sharp increase in groundnut prices, the price of groundnut oil also surged. In Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh, and Jamnagar in Gujarat, the price of loose groundnut oil increased sharply by ₹150 to ₹1800 per 10 kg.
Groundnut Oil
The price of a 15 kg tin of groundnut oil increased by ₹190 to ₹2840. Groundnut oil prices also remained firm in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bikaner, Niwai/Tonk, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
Branded Oils
In Kota, the price of branded groundnut oil increased by ₹200 to ₹2800 per tin (15 liters), while in Jaipur, filtered groundnut oil prices rose by up to ₹150, reaching a high of ₹2780-3000. The prices of groundnuts and groundnut oil are rising due to demand exceeding supply and speculative trading.
