Uttar Pradesh Launches Massive Campaign Against Adulterated Food Products

Lucknow. Ahead of the Holi festival, the administration has launched a massive raid campaign to curb the production and trade of counterfeit, adulterated, and potentially harmful food items in Uttar Pradesh.

In this effort, the Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration has seized thousands of liters of adulterated edible oil and destroyed paneer, mawa, and sweets. The massive raids being conducted across the state have created panic among adulterators, while honest traders are breathing a sigh of relief.

Senior officials say that this extensive and intensive raid campaign aims to ensure food safety during the festive season, when demand for dairy products, edible oils, and sweets often increases, which some individuals attempt to exploit. According to information received, 32,500 liters of suspected adulterated edible oil has been seized in Hapur. Samples have been sent for laboratory testing.

It is understood that approximately 30,000 edible oil units in various parts of Uttar Pradesh have either been closed or seized as a result of this extensive raid conducted during the Holi festival.

Large quantities of counterfeit and adulterated paneer and mawa were also seized and destroyed in several districts, including Gautam Buddha Nagar, Saharanpur, Ghaziabad, Sambhal, and Barabanki. The raids and searches will continue.
