Today marks the last date for the SEBI ban on 7 agricultural commodities:
★ On December 19, 2021, SEBI imposed a ban on trading in 7 agricultural commodities: non-basmati rice, chickpeas, wheat, mustard and its products, soybeans and its products, CPO (Crude Palm Oil), and moong.
★ The ban was extended multiple times and was last extended to January 31, 2025.
★ A report mentioned that despite the ban on futures markets, the prices of several agricultural products increased significantly, suggesting that directly linking price hikes to futures markets is incorrect.
★ It remains to be seen if any new circular is issued today regarding this matter.
★ I Grain India believes that the ban on some agricultural products might be lifted.
