News Capsule: Government hikes arthiyas’ commission by 10% for Punjab-Haryana wheat procurement
Wheat
★ The Central government has increased the commission for arthiyas in Punjab and Haryana from ₹46 to ₹50.75 per quintal ahead of the 2026–27 Rabi marketing season. In Rajasthan, the rate has been raised from ₹41.40 to ₹45.67 per quintal.

Paddy
★ For paddy procurement, the commission has been increased from ₹45.88 to ₹50.61 per quintal.

Cooperative societies
★ Commission for cooperative societies has also been raised — from ₹27 to ₹29.79 per quintal for wheat and from ₹32 to ₹35.30 per quintal for paddy.
★ The revised rates will be effective from the 2026–27 season and are expected to increase procurement costs and food subsidy burden.
