★ In December, exports of walnut kernels clearly exceeded shipments of in-shell walnuts. In-shell walnut exports totaled 1,176 metric tons, down 17 percent from 1,425 metric tons a year earlier. In contrast, walnut kernel exports rose by 11 percent, increasing from 2,135 metric tons in December 2024 to 2,372 metric tons in December 2025.
★ While total walnut kernel exports remain close to the same period in 2023, there has been a significant shift in destinations. Exports to India declined by 17 percent to 28,221 tons, and shipments to Asia/Oceania fell 14 percent to 30,533 metric tons. However, exports to Vietnam recorded nearly a tenfold increase.
★ Exports to Europe rose by 30 percent to 23,712 metric tons, with strong growth seen in Italy, Spain and Germany, while shipments to Lithuania dropped by 32 percent. Exports to the Americas also increased by 11 percent, with Peru emerging as the leading destination.
★ Overall, global demand for walnut kernels remains strong, and trade flows continue to shift toward changing markets.
