News Capsule: Australia: Almond exports record second-highest season, India remains a key market
★ In November 2025, Australia’s almond exports declined slightly on a year-on-year basis. However, despite this decline, the current season has emerged as the second-best on record so far. Domestic deliveries fell sharply to 1,843 metric tons, the lowest level in more than 14 years, while exports totaled 12,627 metric tons.
★ China remained the largest buyer of Australian almonds, accounting for about 61 percent of total exports. India ranked second, importing around 12.4 percent of Australia’s almond exports. Although shipments to India declined by about 10 percent in November, India continues to be a major and stable market for Australian almonds on a seasonal basis.
★ Australia exported 17,158 tons of almonds to India in the 2024/25 season, while shipments in the 2025/26 season stood at 14,475 tons, reflecting a decline of 15.6 percent. Despite this reduction, strong domestic consumption of dry fruits in India and steady festive-season demand are expected to support almond demand in the medium term.
★ As a result, India is likely to continue playing an important role in Australia’s almond trade, even though a new export record appears unlikely in the 2025/26 season.
