Kharif 2025: Oilseeds Sowing Update
★ As of now, a total of 5.38 lakh hectares have been sown under oilseeds in the Kharif 2025 season, which is slightly lower than last year’s 5.49 lakh hectares — a decline of 0.11 lakh hectares.
★ Groundnut sowing has decreased to 1.78 lakh hectares, down from 1.91 lakh hectares last year.
★ Soybean sowing stands at 3.07 lakh hectares, which is 0.05 lakh hectares less than the 3.12 lakh hectares recorded last year.
★ Sunflower has shown a slight increase, with sowing rising to 0.27 lakh hectares from 0.26 lakh hectares last year.
★ Sesame sowing has reached 0.20 lakh hectares, up from 0.14 lakh hectares during the same period last year.
★ Castor sowing has also begun.
★ Overall, while key oilseeds like groundnut and soybean have shown a decline, smaller crops like sunflower and sesame have seen an increase in area.
