Monsoon Situation in Uttar Pradesh (June 1 to June 23, 2025)
★ The progress of the monsoon in Uttar Pradesh has been uneven. Rainfall has been significantly below normal in the western and southeastern districts, while the eastern and central parts of the state have received comparatively better rainfall.
★ In western UP, districts like Meerut (-37%), Moradabad (-53%), Rampur (-59%), and Firozabad (-65%) have recorded major rainfall deficits, which may delay the sowing of Kharif crops.
★ In the southeastern region, rainfall has also been poor in districts like Amethi (-64%), Pratapgarh (-54%), Mirzapur (-23%), Ballia (-56%), and Deoria (-59%).
★ On the other hand, eastern and central UP have received normal to above-normal rainfall — Basti (+63%), Shravasti (+92%), Balrampur (+148%), Bahraich (+90%), and Chitrakoot (+107%) are among the best-performing districts.
★ In the Bundelkhand region, districts such as Mahoba (+96%), Hamirpur (+96%), and Jhansi (+91%) have received good rainfall, which is likely to benefit Kharif sowing significantly.
★ Northwestern districts like Bijnor (+26%), Shamli (+45%), and Saharanpur (+41%) have also received above-normal rainfall.
★ Overall, while the monsoon has performed well in some parts of the state, several districts still require significant rainfall for a smooth and timely Kharif sowing season.
