Canada – Saskatchewan Pulse Growers Reduce Check-Off Levy
★ More Money to Stay in Farmers’ Pockets
★ Saskatchewan Pulse Growers (SPG) has made a major decision to reduce the check-off levy from 0.67% to 0.6% of gross sales at the first point of sale. The new rate will take effect from August 1 with the start of the new crop season.
★ SPG’s chairperson stated that in recent years, pulse acreage and prices have remained steady and strong, leading to revenues consistently exceeding expenditures. This financial stability allowed the board to reduce the levy.
★ The revised rate will apply to all types of pulses and soybeans across the province. SPG currently holds an unrestricted surplus of $12.6 million.
★ Check-off Levy in Other Provinces:
Alberta: 0.75%
Manitoba: 0.5%
