International Cotton Market
ICE cotton futures saw gains on Friday, with contracts rising between 68 to 90 points. The May delivery contract ended the week 130 points higher. Crude oil futures also rose by $0.64 per barrel, providing some support to cotton prices, while the U.S. Dollar Index declined by $0.155 during the day.
In cotton futures and options, large managed speculative funds reduced their net short position by 3,547 contracts, bringing the total down to 76,410 contracts as of March 11. This marks a decrease from previously record-high levels.
On Thursday, The Seam's online auction recorded sales of 5,722 bales, with an average price of 66.35 cents per pound.
The Cotlook A Index rose by 100 points on March 13, reaching 78.85 cents per pound.
ICE cotton stocks remained unchanged on March 13, with certified stocks currently at 14,488 bales.
The USDA raised this week’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) by 188 points to 53.76 cents per pound, effective Thursday afternoon.
