New Delhi. The Food Corporation of India (FCI) held a total of 643.18 lakh tonnes of foodgrain stock as of November 1, 2025, including 335.91 lakh tonnes of rice and 307.27 lakh tonnes of wheat,

significantly higher than the 519.56 lakh tonnes on November 1, 2024, and the 419.04 lakh tonnes on November 1, 2023. Furthermore, the total stock of paddy held by the Corporation also increased to 309.07 lakh tonnes in 2025, compared to 262.61 lakh tonnes in 2023 and 214.68 lakh tonnes in 2024.

After a long time, the Food Corporation is seeing a stock of more than 300 lakh tonnes of wheat at the beginning of November. Wheat sowing has already begun, and the area under cultivation is ahead of last year.

The soil, weather, and climate are favorable for sowing the crop, while there is sufficient water available in dams and reservoirs for irrigation. Consequently, the next wheat production could be excellent.

As far as rice is concerned, there is already a large stock of rice in government warehouses, while government agencies are expected to make large purchases of Kharif paddy.

Government procurement of paddy began in October, and now the Food Corporation of India will continue to receive regular supplies of rice from rice millers, which will significantly increase the stock. Government procurement of wheat will also begin in April next year.
