Global Soybean Production Forecast to Reach New Record High

London. In its latest report, the International Grains Council (IGC) has projected that global soybean production will rise to a new record level of 442 million tonnes during the 2026-27 season—a figure significantly higher than the revised production estimate of 426 million tonnes for the 2025-26 season.
Brazil, the United States, and Argentina are the three leading producers and exporters of soybeans. Additionally, this vital oilseed crop is cultivated in several other countries, including China, India, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Canada.
According to the IGC, this record-breaking production is expected to ensure a smooth supply and availability of soybeans in the global market, potentially exerting some downward pressure on prices.
Furthermore, soybean crushing and processing activities are also anticipated to reach a new record high. Despite this, the residual surplus stock of soybeans at the end of the marketing season may remain somewhat elevated.
According to the Council, this residual surplus stock is projected to stand at 78 million tonnes at the close of the 2025-26 marketing season; by the end of the 2026-27 season, this figure could increase by 1 million tonnes, reaching a total of 79 million tonnes.
The report further estimates that global soybean trade will rise by 3 million tonnes—from 187 million tonnes in the 2025-26 season—to reach 190 million tonnes in the 2026-27 season.
Exports from Brazil are expected to witness a substantial increase, whereas shipments from Argentina may decline, as the latter has prioritized domestic crushing and processing operations.
