Edible Oil Imports Expected to Decline by 3% in February
★ According to available information, edible oil imports in February are likely to decline to a three-month low of 1.3 million tonnes, although this would still be 35% higher than February 2025.
★ Palm oil imports are expected to reach a six-month high of 850,000 tonnes, up 10% from January and 26% higher year-on-year.
★ Soybean oil imports are likely to increase by 7% to 300,000 tonnes, while sunflower oil imports may decline by 45% to 145,000 tonnes.
★ In January, India imported 1.31 million tonnes of edible oils.
★ During the November–January period, total edible oil imports stood at 3.96 million tonnes, compared to 4.05 million tonnes in the same period last year.
★ In February, about 98,000 tonnes of edible oils are expected to arrive from Nepal, including 74,000 tonnes of soybean oil, 5,000 tonnes of palm oil, and 19,000 tonnes of sunflower oil.
