CPO Futures Price Expected to Range Between 4,500–5,000 Ringgit by December

Mumbai: Dorab Mistry, Director of Godrej International, has stated that the benchmark futures price of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) on the Kuala Lumpur-based Bursa Malaysia Derivatives (BMD) exchange could range between 4,500 and 5,000 ringgit (approximately ₹1,05,556.19 to ₹1,17,284.65) per tonne by December 2026.

According to Mistry, crude palm oil production could decline by 2.5 million tonnes in 2026–27 compared to 2025–26, as the impact of El Niño could exacerbate drought conditions, particularly in Indonesia.

The global palm oil market is likely to face an atmosphere of uncertainty next year. There are concerns that palm oil production could be affected by reduced rainfall in Southeast Asia.

Despite the anticipated drop in production for the 2025–26 season, Mistry has cautioned the palm oil industry against formulating future strategies based on the expectation of a sharp surge in prices. Notably, projections indicate that palm oil imports into India will remain stable, while sunflower oil imports are expected to rise and soybean oil imports to decline.
