Cost May Rise Up to 9% if Crude and Palm Oil Stay High: Godrej Consumer Products
★ Godrej Consumer Products (GCP) has said that if Brent crude remains in the range of $100–110 per barrel and palm oil prices stay between 4,500–4,800 ringgit per tonne, its costs could rise by 6% to 9%.
★ The recent surge in crude oil and palm oil prices has been largely driven by ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
★ Currently, Brent crude is trading near $109 per barrel, while Malaysian palm oil futures are hovering around 4,800 ringgit per tonne.
★ To offset rising costs, the company plans to implement price hikes and other cost-control measures, though it has not shared detailed strategies.
★ Meanwhile, rival company Dabur has also indicated that growth in its international business may remain limited due to the Middle East crisis.
★ Overall, elevated crude and palm oil prices are increasing cost pressures on FMCG companies, which may lead to higher prices for consumers in the coming period.
